Meeting Minutes
The November 4th meeting was called to order by President Geoff Lenser.
The minutes from the previous meeting were emailed to members. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Zach King and seconded by Frank Mathison. The motion carried.
Beth Hanson reported that there was $824.37 in the general savings, $1156.96 in the general checking and $157.01 in the Canoe Race checking. Carol Olson reported that there was $2845.25 in Trout Fest savings, $10,964.87in Trout Fest checking and $5125.27 in Bingo checking. A motion to accept the report was made by Paul Lewison and seconded by Linda Schulte. The motion carried.
The nomination committee reported that they are working on nominees and would have a list by the December meeting.
We had several proposals for co-operative advertising from La Crosse Tribune, La Crosse Media Group, Midwest Family Broadcasting and COW 97. We will make a decision at the next meeting. If you would like to look at the proposals, contact Geoff for copies.
Carol Olson and Nancy Wedwick created a budget for 2020. There will be some changes in regards to the Canoe Race portion. When the changes are made, the budget will be emailed to members. A motion to accept the budget proposal was made by Linda Schulte and seconded by Beth Hanson. The motion carried.
Geoff Lenser reported that the Connect Communities application should be decided on soon. Applications were accepted up to mid-October.
Bingo events will be catered by local restaurants. Stockyard will be doing the food for November 14th bingo. We still need help to set up and serve food and sell bingo cards. Set up time is 4:00pm with bingo starting at 6:00pm.
Canoe Race update: Nancy Wedwick will give a report to the Vernon County Board on Tuesday the 5th, explaining how the economic development grant we received was used and how it impacted the area. Geoff Lenser reported that the Chaseburg Community Snowtrailers had dropped out of the Canoe Race group.
The Trout Fest committee reported that Trout Unlimited would not be able to help if we chose any weekend in May, but could work it out if we choose a weekend in June. Geoff Lenser asked Carol Olson to see if they would still stock the fish even if they couldn’t bring any volunteers. They also reported that they are planning some new events, such as, Trout Tournament, Fly fishing demo, fish cleaning demo and more.
The Holly Jolly Holiday Walk and Tree Lighting will have 8 businesses participating. Each will have vendors, kids’ activities and/or refreshments. We are still looking for a Santa. Geoff Lenser proposed that we spend $100 of bingo money to advertise the event. A motion to accept was made by Carol Olson and seconded by Nancy Wedwick. The motion carried.
We decide to have a Business After Hours get together quarterly. We will start with December 17th at South Ridge. We will include non-members too. We voted to have the association pay for 1 drink and appetizers. The motion was made by Paul Lewison and seconded by Beth Hanson. The motion carried.
Carol Olson read a Thank you card from Pauline Aspenson who has been having some health issues. Keep her in your thoughts.
Linda Schulte reported that the Knutson Memorial Library is holding their annual fund raiser on December 1st at the Legion. Contact the library for more information.
A motion to adjourn was made by Paul Lewison and seconded by Linda Schulte. The motion carried.
