Coon Valley Business Association
Meeting minutes for July 1st. 2019
The meeting was held at the Skybox.
The meeting was called to order by President Geoff Lenser.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A motion to accept was made by Carol Olson and seconded by Beth Hanson. The motion carried.
Beth Hanson gave the treasure’s report. There is $1603.53 in the general fund and $824.16 in savings. The Canoe Race checking has $15,754.22. Carol Olson reported that the Trout Fest checking has $10,679.29 and Bingo checking has $5068.19. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Linda Schulte and seconded by Frank Mathison. The motion carried.
We had a member of Trout Unlimited present at the meeting. He said they will release about 340 trout the morning of Trout Fest. They have some prizes for the kids as well some prizes donated by Coon Valley Dairy Supply. They will have a tent set up and hope to do some demos on fly casting and fly tying. Fishing runs from 9am-1pm. He also said that he can supply us with fence posts for the beer area at the hall.
We will be doing some early set up on Thursday the 25th at 5pm and on Friday the 26th at 1pm. Please come and help if you can. This will involve setting up tables for the vendors, the bar and the fencing.
We should have enough people for bingo and bartending, but feel free to come anyway just in case. Linda and Steve Schulte will pick up the bounce house. We will need some volunteers to man this.
Nancy Wedwick went over the bylaws that she had prepared. The bylaw committee will meet to create the application for membership and to set term limits for board and officers. A motion to accept the bylaws was made by Linda Schulte and seconded by Carol Olson. The motion carried.
We discussed checking into changing to progressive bingo, changing the day of the week that we have it and possibly having twice a month. We will check when surrounding towns hold bingo and choose the opposite days. We discussed simplifying the food and charging $5 a plate for adults and $2 a plate for kids under 12. A motion to charge for food during bingo was made by Frank Mathison and seconded by Paul Lewison. The motion carried.
We are filling out the application to join Connect Communities. This opens up some opportunities for our town, like grants, possibly helping the village restore electricity to the park. Peter Fletcher is filling out the application as he has done this for other communities.
The next meeting will be August 5th, 5:15 at the Skybox. Next officers meeting will be July 29th at Legacy at 9am.
A motion to adjourn was made by Pauline Aspenson and seconded by Frank Mathison. The motion carried.
Please let me know of any corrections.
Thank you,
Karla Lewison
