The next bingo date is December 7th. Please help out if you can, especially with table set up. We are serving turkey and dressing. We will serve beer also. Along with the cash prizes, we will have other prizes donated by businesses, so please donate something if you can. We also discussed who the callers would be. We are hoping that Garland will be available again. We also decided to ask Mike Perkins to be Santa and we will buy candy for him to hand out to the kids. We are in need of some general kitchen items that will help us with bingo. Those items are: dish cloths, kitchen towels, can opener, coolers, measuring cups, Ziploc bags and plastic wrap. What we don’t get donated, we will purchase.
Our next meeting is December 3rd. We decided to make this our holiday get together with no formal meeting. We will have food and drinks. Tentatively to be held at the Skybox. We are making some positive changes to our organization so please come and enjoy some holiday cheer and maybe learn what changes we are making.
We discussed forming committees to make Trout Fest planning easier. Committees are entertainment, food, bar, bags tournament, kids fishing, vendor show, advertising and bingo. Geoff Lenser is heading the committees for the bar and bags tournament, Linda Schulte is heading advertising. Carol Olson said she would contact the Driftless River Band to see if they would perform during the day, Geoff said he would contact Dan Sebranek to possibly perform during the day also. We decided to hire the Couleeagans as our evening band. A motion was made by Geoff Lenser and seconded by Linda Schulte, the motion carried. Please contact any officer if you would like to help us with this event.
We discussed raising dues next year to create an advertising budget. We are going to get some estimates for radio advertising to see what we can afford with this increase. We also discussed having 2 membership dues levels, possibly starting in 2020. We decided to raise dues from the current $50 to $75. A motion to accept was made by Geoff Lenser and seconded by Larry Servais, the motion carried.
Beth Hanson, of Coon Valley Dairy Supply, discussed creating a gift drive or giving tree to help families affected by the flood. We contacted the school to help us with this. There will be trees located in local businesses with tags containing information of the needs of kids/families for Christmas. Our hope is that our customers will purchase gifts and bring them back to the businesses. If you would like to have a tree in your business, please contact Beth or Karla Lewison. Beth also reported that they will have Christmas trees for sale, with a kickoff event on November 24th. They will have refreshments and wagon rides through K & L Christmas Tree Farm. They also plan to plant a tree next to the Coon Valley sign, on their property that will have lights and will be part of the kickoff event with a tree lighting. Carol Olson made a motion that the business association buys the lights for the tree. It was seconded by Amy Adam, the motion carried.
A motion to adjourn was made by Pauline Aspenson and seconded by Linda Schulte, the motion carried.
