Meeting minutes from March 2nd
The meeting was held at the Stockyard and called to order by President Geoff Lenser at 5:15pm.
The minutes of the February meeting were emailed and read before the meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Zach King and seconded by Pauline Aspenson. The motion carried.
Beth Hanson gave the treasurer’s report. The general checking has $843.61 and savings is $824.58. The Coon Creek Canoe Race checking has $568.86. Carol Olson reported that the bingo checking has $6589.49. The Trout Fest checking has $7091.76 and savings is $2847.05. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Zach King and seconded by Frank Mathison. The motion carried.
We welcomed new members, Fjord, Seland’s Funeral Home, Thrifty Pickin’s and Wehling Farms and Country Store.
Nancy Wedwick gave a brief report about the presentation of the Connect Communities power point at the Village board meeting. The board was in favor of supporting this joint effort.
We talked briefly about the Strategic Planning Meeting. The meeting is March 23rd at 5:30pm at the Legion. Mark Tallman from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. will be there to run the meeting. Everyone is welcome.
Geoff Lenser reported that the down payment for the website has been paid, and the committee is in the process of giving the developer the information.
Geoff Lenser proposed that we increase the amount of money for bingo foo from $100 to $150. We had a larger crowd last bingo and ran out of food. Paul Lewison made a motion to raise the amount to $150 with option to go back to $100 if warranted. The motion was seconded by Beth Hanson. The motion carried. The new jackpot for the progressive game is $760. Geoff Lenser proposed that we decide on a starting jackpot should someone win the current jackpot. Paul Lewison made a motion that our starting jackpot be $500. The motion was seconded by Frank Mathison. The motion carried. There are yard signs for bingo that businesses can display the week of bingo. If you would like one, contact Jill Gettelman.
Carol Olson and Jill Gettelman reported that Trout Unlimited wanted the kids fishing to take place from 9am-1pm. There will also be a fun run/walk this year. Pauline Aspenson is working on a t-shirt design as this is the 10th annual Trout Fest. Jill Gettelman reported that she has 16 vendors for the craft/vendor show. Carol Olson said they are also looking for donations from businesses, either monetary, gift certificates or actual items that can be used in prize packages for run/walk winners. Jill Gettelman has yard signs for Trout Fest. Contact her to pick one up.
Geoff Lenser reported that our cooperative advertising print ads will be used to promote the Strategic planning meeting, Trout Fest and any other event in the community.
Geoff Lenser reported that Canoe race planning is well under way. We have 2 bands, 1 food truck, the tent and stage and porta pottys booked or reserved. The Village board agreed to allow the park to be open until 12am the night of Canoe Races and to have an open fest area with only a perimeter fence.
Beers and Cheers after hours get together will be at Fjord this month, tentatively March 17th. An email will be sent when we confirm.
2024 will the 175th anniversary for Coon Valley. We want to have a celebration, so start thinking of events that you would like to see happen.
A motion to adjourn was made by Paul Lewison and seconded by Zach King. The motion carried.
