Coon Valley Business Association
Meeting Minutes for January 6th, 2020
Location: Stockyard
The meeting was called to order at 5:15 by President Geoff Lenser.
The minutes for the December meeting were emailed to members to be read before the meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Carol Olson and seconded by Paul Lewison. The motion carried.
Beth Hanson reported that there is $1371.60 in the general checking account and $824.37 in savings. The Coon Creek Canoe Race checking has $417.01. There was no report for Bingo and Trout Fest accounts. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Pauline Aspenson and seconded by Jill Gettelman. The motion carried.
A motion to suspend the meeting to elect a board chair was made by Carol Olson and seconded by Beth Hanson. The motion carried. The nominating committee reported that there no candidates for board chair and opened to the floor for nominations. There were 3 calls for nominations. Carol Olson made a motion to close nominations and unanimously re-elect Geoff Lenser. It was seconded by Zach King. The motion carried. A motion to resume the meeting was made by Geoff Lenser and seconded by Beth Hanson. The motion carried.
Geoff Lenser reported that he has talked with Grant Olson and Carolyn Zick about creating a website for the business association. They will turn in bids. Beth Hanson and Nancy Wedwick will work on the content for the website.
Geoff Lenser reported that the association will conduct a business outreach survey to see what local businesses need, what they’re concerns are and how we can help them. Geoff Lenser, Beth Hanson and Nancy Wedwick are on the committee.
Beth Hanson and Nancy Wedwick will create a power point presentation about Connect Communities. The power point will be presented to the members at the February meeting and then to Coon Valley Village Board at their meeting.
Cooperative advertising is in the works. The La Crosse Tribune is working on an ad for digital marketing.
We have Bingo this Thursday night. Any volunteers will be appreciated.
Carol Olson reported that Blue Collar 40 will be the band for Trout Fest this year.
The next meeting is February 3rd at the Stockyard.
A motion to adjourn was made by Paul Lewison and seconded by Zach King. The motion carried.
